Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme from pineapple that helps the body fight pain and swelling, and may interfere with tumor cells and slow blood clotting.

Benefits
Wound and burn treatment:
Topically applied bromelain helps remove dead and damaged tissue from burns. In Europe, it is approved for this use.

Inflammation:

Sinusitis:
Some studies suggest that bromelain, when added to standard therapy, may help ease the symptoms of sinus inflammation.

Osteoarthritis:
Bromelain may provide relief from the joint pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

Digestion:
The enzymes in bromelain help the body break down proteins. For this reason, it is sometimes used to ease digestive issues like indigestion and bloating.

Muscle soreness:
It may also be used to reduce pain and swelling related to muscle injuries and post-exercise muscle soreness.
